Can just four implants replace all of the teeth on the top or the bottom of your mouth? Thanks to advances in dental implant technology, that answer is a resounding yes.

Believe it or not, tooth loss is extremely common among adults, especially as we age. In fact, more than 35 million people in America are missing all of their upper and/or lower teeth. Rather than living with the discomfort and hassles of dentures, many people are opting for what is called "All-on-four" dental implant restoration.

The All-on-four procedure uses four titanium dental implants to anchor the upper or lower jaw. After the implants are in, full-arch prosthesis teeth are added afterward. The All-on-four procedure is often used to replace dentures or missing teeth and can be completed in one day.

Your tooth replacement surgery will take about 2.5 hours per arch. Removing remaining unhealthy teeth may be required.

After that task is completed, dental implants are inserted. Two dental implants are placed near the front of your jaw, and another two implants are placed near to the back of the jaw.

Once the implants are inserted, final touches are made to your customized prosthetic dental bridge. Once finalized, your new set of teeth will be attached to your implants, and adjusted for comfort, bite, and fit.
